The Executive Womens Golf Association was founded in 1991. The International Association is headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, on the grounds of the PGA National Resort and Spa. The headquarters staff consists of 13 employees in addition to the Director. In addition, there is a nine-member volunteer Board of Directors.

The current Board President is Penny Hulbert. The association has grown over the years to over 20,000 members and 120 Chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Long-range plans call for the development of as many as 50-60 more Chapters in the USA and Canada over the next five years.

Below are more details outlining the Association:

    • 1991: Nancy and Ed Oliver found The Executive Women's Golf League (EWGL), a for-profit business. The EWGL holds its first instructional clinic for businesswomen, organized and promoted by Nancy Oliver, President of EWGL, at Emerald Dunes Golf Course, West Palm Beach, FL, in July 1991.

    • From 1991-1995, the EWGL begins accepting members and starting Chapters across the U.S. through word of mouth, publicity, and the support of hundreds of golf professionals and volunteer leaders. Membership and Chapters grow at an explosive rate to some 10,000 members nationwide and almost 90 Chapters.

    • 1996: Nancy Oliver and volunteer leaders who were involved with Chapters across the country develop a plan (called Vision 2000) to transition the control, ownership, and management of the membership business developed by the for- profit EWGL to a not-for-profit organization run by its members. The Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA) is incorporated and the first Board, which includes EWGA members, is formed with Nancy Oliver remaining as the President of the Board and the Executive Director of the newly formed Association

    • 1997: EWGA receives approval from the IRS for its filing for tax exemption as a 501(c)6 corporation.

    • 1998: Nancy Oliver steps down as the President of the Board of EWGA and the first EWGA member, Alicia Jansen, becomes President of the Association Board of Directors. Nancy and Ed remain as members of the Board of Directors.

    • 1999: Nancy Oliver steps down from day-to-day management as the Executive Director of the EWGA with the hiring of an EWGA member, Sara Hume, as the Executive Director.

    • 1996 - 1999: Membership in the EWGA grows more slowly (12,500 members by 1999) as the transition plan (Vision 2000) is implemented.
