Again our Chapter has chosen the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf as our charity. LPGA*USGA Girls Golf is a developmental junior golf program formed to create a network for girls to learn to play golf, make friends and sample competition in a positive and supportive learning environment. Site Director, Laura Gunia, began Austin’s Chapter in ‘02 with eight members, and hopes to grow the program to 50 girls.
Activities for Girls Golf include weekend clinics and play activities that run from May through September at various courses throughout Austin. Play days combine each girl with an adult mentor who will help develop skills, have fun and help establish a life-long interest in golf.
EWGA members are encouraged to volunteer for the mentoring program, as well as enroll their daughters between the ages of 8-17 in Girls Golf.
